And we’re off…

It is knit!!!!

Things got done-ish this week. My blanket is complete! Ok, except for the stitching it all together bit. Doggone finishing. Pretty happy with it. The plan was to add flowers, and I probably will, but perhaps not the huge ones I originally envisioned. It turned out big enough too! Whew and all that.

As an aside, since I was afraid I might run out I bought more yarn than I needed. Throw pillows anyone?

And this is done too!

The Norwegian farmers shirt is done. One of the button holes almost pulled out while I was stitching, so it looks…well…not so hot, but it is done, damnit. The sad bit here? I started it for my sister when she was still young, and no one in my family will fit it. I’m not too worried though. In my experience, when I do something like this and just hang on to it for a while, someone usually shows up who is the perfect recipient. It will be fun to see who that is!

And on to the next.

I picked up some closeout Maya (linen/alpaca chained yarn) from Beroco (me and closeout yarns……). I have begun Barnhardt by Norah Gaughan. It is a Guernsey-style loose pullover. I think it will be a great addition for a Grand Marais wardrobe, always cool by the lake.

I have a bit more going on too. I’ll show the electronic kit I’m playing with once I stop swearing at it. And I’m taking an online drawing class. I’m doing foundational practice right now, so I just have circles, ovals, lines, and rectangles to show (or not show). I’m really happy starting with this foundation. I have been very insecure with my drawing, and I’ve realized that starting over with the foundational work and practicing the basics, without any concern about “making art”, is exactly what I need. Yay!
