A few endings to some long-term projects

Persistence, wise or otherwise, and things get done.

Scandinavian Sugar Skulls, finished in time for Halloween.

Shifted from double-pointed needles to circular and tada, successful hat.

The blanket is stitched together and keeping me warm this winter. We’ll think about embellishments come spring.
Provincial Waistcoat is completed, sans buttons.

There were even more errors and sloppy writing found in this pattern as I progressed, requiring a lot of re-knitting. I’m calling this done unless I decided to add the bottom band. It will be worked to make sure it does not flare at the bottom though. The pattern is an odd assortment of ribbing, cables, and regular knit stitch, and the author gives no guidelines on how to pick it up correctly. More trial and error I guess. The fun will be digging through my button collection and see what vintage style looks best.

And back to this.

And then back to my Maple, by Marie Wallin. It seems that, though I did gauge swatches, and I like the fabric I am knitting, my gauge is MUCH looser than that on the pattern, and I have knit it much too big. I am reducing the width of the back by 8 inches (yes, 8, that is a full quarter more stitches than I would have had to knit, dag nabit), and figuring out how wide I should knit the shoulders. A small consolation? Knitting 8 fewer inches will go a lot faster. Then on to the more narrow fronts, and the knitting gets easy. It will be nice to get back to this, it is beautiful.
