Personal Knitting

Personal Project catchup

I have not been doing much design of late. I am caught up in way too many personal projects. I am enjoying myself, and the final projects will be fabulous. The finished ones ARE fabulous! Below is an unfortunately long list of what I have been doing.

SImple Woodsy

This shawl is the Simple City, made from one Crazy Zauberball. I wear this a lot. It is small, the perfect colors for me, and oh so stylish. I think I want a gazillion of these, one for every outfit! And it is called Simple Woodsy because that is where I live, pretty deep in the bush.

A Plethora of Pencil Cases

These pencil cases were a Christmas gift made for all of my nieces and nephews. I am very pleased with how they turned out. I reinforced the inside with pvc so that they would last a while, and filled them with markers, pencils, and erasers.

The young padwan's winter robes

This is Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Bog Jacket, Modified for the young Jedi-in-training. This is the outer tunic, thus the lack of sleeves. I will be adding sleeves, but I will make it look like an inner tunic. I think there are belt loops and a belt coming too, so that he has a place to hang the all-important light saber.

Babydoll & Lace Cardigan

This is the pattern “Hey Teach” free from Knitty.com. I have chosen to knit it with 3/4 sleeves. In browsing all the projects on Ravelry, I have concluded that to look good it has to fit snug, and the ribbing must hit just under the bust. We will see how I do. I am knitting it in a slightly heavy aran weight yarn requiring that I redraft the size a bit to compensate. I was wondering if I would have enough yardage, but it now seems that I will have leftovers. Go figure.

Dale of Norway snowflake sweater

This sweater made me cry. I started it 5 years ago, and could not knit it without excessive puckering. Mom was courageous and knit the sleeves and body. It gave her quite a bit of trouble too! I guess this Triplex yarn was just too boingy to do this well. I made it up and knit the neck. It is blocked and drying. Now that it is finished though, it will be a pleasure to wear!

Watered Steel Cardigan Swatch

I got 1/5th of the way done on this sweater, the Watered Steel Cardigan, and found that it was at least one size too big. It has been on time out for a few months. I will finish it (insert determined expression here). The yarn I chose, Three Irish Girls Kells sport weight, is wonderful, and the deep deep blue is so rich. I knit far enough to know that this pattern works very well with the yarn. Back on the horse with me!

Geodesic Cardigan

This cardigan, the Geodesic, turned out very well! It took me close to a year to finish. I had to let it rest for about 5 months to work on class knitting. When I finally finished and blocked it it fit perfectly. I love the drape and feel of a cardigan this light. I will do this sort of thing again.
